It is 11:30 and I can't sleep. I am usually in bed by now. I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. I work all day and then have school at night until 10pm. I drank some coffee due to the fact that I felt a headache coming on and I had to finish and start a paper that is due tomorrow. Now, I am awake. Coffee never used to affect me like this, must be the pregnancy. (it was 1/2 caff too!) Anyhow, I have a couple of posts that I started writing and never finished so here they are... still unfinished:
1) This one I call aahh pregnancy:
I am amazed daily how things change by being pregnant. They way that you think changes. The way that you look changes. Your priorities change. It is all very strange, yet at the same time very calming. It is hard to explain to someone that is not pregnant, or that has never been pregnant. Okay it is not hard, it is impossible. No matter how you try to explain how things change or how you feel, someone that has never been in your shoes, just can not understand. This is not a bad thing. It is not their fault. You just have to experience it first hand to understand. You think that you know or can at least understand how things are going to be, but in reality you don’t; how could you? I know that many of us through out the years have experienced what I used to call "scares" When you took the pregnancy test thinking that you might be pregnant because you have not started yet, and you think that you feel pregnant. You sit there on the way home from the drug store thinking about how things will be if you really were pregnant. It is all a big fantasy. You don’t actually think about it as change in life, you think of it like oh, I am going to have a baby, and I am going to name it Simon and he will be so cute, and it will be just fine and dandy, La La La. Then you get home and you take the test, and oh wait, not pregnant. You don’t think twice about it and you throw the test away and go on with life, forgetting about your little fantasy that you had on the way home from the drug store. I have been there and done that. Things were different for me when I found out that I was pregnant. I was late, but not concerned. I had just had laporscopic surgery, and had to temporarily stop my birth control. I just assumed that it was due to these two factors that I was running behind schedule that month. I assured Paul that I KNEW that I was not pregnant and to stop worrying. It was a Friday night after work , and I had to stop at the store to pick up a few items (including some wine that I had intended on drinking that night) I decided to break down and buy the stupid test, just to be Paul’s mind (and mine) and ease. I got home unloaded the groceries a.k.a. wine, and headed off to the bathroom to reassure myself that I was indeed not pregnant. After taking the test, it showed a plus sign immediately. At first I thought, oh, I got to give it a minute to register all the way. Once that minute passed, and it did not go away, That marked the point where my thinking and mindset started to change. I paced back and forth for a while, going back into the bathroom to make sure that it still showed a positive result. Now, you have to remember not only was I planning on drinking, that wine, which coincidentally I had just recently begun to enjoy drinking Red wine, and I was looking forward to it. I was also a smoker. I was smoking about a ½ pack a day and usually more on the weekends if I was drinking. For anyone that has ever been a smoker, have a cigarette was a must when you were drinking. So suddenly I had to stop all of this. But you know what? It was not hard. That quickly my mindset had changed. I was no longer a smoker, nor did I want to smoke, and I no longer needed that glass of wine like I thought that I had a few minutes ago. I was going to be a mom. I actually had a life growing inside of me. From that point on my life changed. Although shocking and unexpected, a little miracle had happened and the further into my pregnancy the more exciting it becomes. I no longer think about what my drink of choice is going to be for the weekend. I no longer enjoy going to smoke filled bars...
2) This one I was going to title FRIDAY:
Friday morning I wake up at 4:30 for my last bi-hourly bathroom break from my sleep. I feel good, great in fact. As I lay in bed thinking about my morning and the fact that I have a wonderful two more hours to sleep before my alarm goes off, I think about what to wear, and what I am going to have for breakfast, as I slowly drift back off to sleep. What seems like seconds later my alarm goes off. But wait. I am in pain and am having a hard time rolling over to turn off the alarm. Ouch. As I slowly turn off my alarm and proceed to the bathroom, thinking that only a hot shower will cure the stiff and sore neck that I was feeling. When suddenly, I feel nauseous, not morning sickness, but nauseous and very dizzy and lightheaded. So I make my way back to the bed to lay down for a minute, when I realize that it is my neck causing this horrible pain and sickness. I lay in bed unable to move, and proceed to wake up Paul. We both lay in bed not knowing exactly what to do… when suddenly it hit me oh yes, it has now been over two hours since my last bathroom break, and I have to go, only I can’t get up. I have Paul slowly help me walk to the bathroom. This is when things took a turn for the worse. I had to call Paul back into the bathroom almost as soon as he left me, and just in time too, as soon as he made it back in the room, I passed out...
That's all folks...
