Doug - had to have a frenotomy
yesterday morning. Little did I know it was going to cause an entire day spent at the hospital. The entire purpose of Doug having to have his tongue clipped, was due to the fact that at 8 + months old, he was only drinking bottles, and unable to eat much baby food or any other food without choking. Due to the fact that his two bottom teeth have already come in, he had to be put under for the surgery; which all in all went well, it was the after effects that were the issue.
As instructed he was to have no food or bottle after midnight on Monday (the night before). I gave him a bottle at 11:45pm - mistake - mom's know go with your gut - I had bad feelings about waking him up - but did it anyhow. Well, at 2:45 am he was AWAKE - and NOT going back to bed. After an exhausting hour Paul and I decided we had no other choice but to put him in the van and drive around until 6am when we had to be at the hospital, for his 7am surgery.
We were home by 8am - Doug still had not had a bottle since 11:45 the night before. He would not drink. He therefore was not peeing. By 2pm - we were instructed to go to the hospital for him to be treated for dehydration & to receive an iv. Well, after exhausting every other effort - we finally caved and did the iv. It took three nurses, and three holes in his little body before finally getting the iv line in. It was so sad. He peed for the first time @ 6:30pm. We arrived back at our house at 9pm. EXHAUSTED - only to have Doug still not peeing, drinking, or sleeping - I had to drive around again this morning for nearly 2 hours. He is now sleeping, but still has not had anything to drink since that last bottle at 11:45pm Monday night. Luckily he is eating applesauce, yogurt, & Popsicles. ... lets pray he is back to normal tomorrow...
